Warcraft is a franchise of video games, novels, and other media created by Blizzard Entertainment. The series is made up of five core games: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, World of Warcraft, and Hearthstone. The first three of these core games are in the real-time strategy genre, where opposing players command virtual armies in battle against each other or a computer-controlled enemy. The story behind Frostmourne is considered an epic. As Arthas was hunting the Dreadlord Mal’Ganis in Northrend, he came across Muradin Bronzebeard who revealed the power of the Runeblade Frostmourne. Once he found it, the Paladin Arthas left his hammer behind, and stated “I will gladly bear any curse that will save my homeland”. Nerzhul, a powerful Orc Warlock stuck in the Frozen Throne, was able to speak to Arthas through the sword. Arthas was slowly turned into a Death Knight. He later merged with Nerzhul and the two personalities became what was known as the Lich King.
